Welcome
to DeMiller.com
Hi. I'm
De Miller. Thanks for checking out my website. I'm a former newspaperman now
living in the real Mount Dora, Florida. I have been writing for three decades,
first as a reporter, photographer and editor for The Kansas City
Star and The Kansas City Kansan newspapers, then as the Public Information Officer
for the Wyandotte County Commissioners. Over the years as a freelancer I have
had material published in such diverse publications as Crafting Magazine, The Sporting News and The National Enquirer. Among other writing accomplishments, I wrote the
script for and produced two direct-to-video comedy movies starring Jerry Mathers
and Tiny Tim; wrote the scripts for and directed a series of children's videos
and wrote scripts for informational videos for the county
government.
Since moving to
Florida, I have become intrigued with the local stories involving historical
figures from Meyer Lansky, Al Capone and Napoleon Hill to a local doctor said to
be the inspiration for the fictional character Indiana Jones. Most of these
tales are nothing more than local lore. But, these bits of
lore do make for interesting stories. This first
fact-based novel, Murder in Mount
Dora, is based on one of those
local stories. It is a 77,000 word light mystery which has a good deal of
information that is, in fact, factual. As an example, in the book while
investigating the case, Trent Cooper contacts two of
Meyer Lansky's real life biographers, Robert Lacey,
author of Little Man: Meyer Lansky
and the Gangster Life and Art
Montague, author of Meyer Lansky,
The Shadowy Exploits Of New York's Master Manipulator. .
I have always been a
fan of light mysteries by writers such as Lillian Jackson
Braun, Sue Grafton and the late Tony Hillerman. Trent Cooper, is a reluctant
hero like a James Quilleran, but is tenacious like a Kinzie Millhone and
methodical like a Joe Leaphorn. I am a full time writer and entrepreneur.
My
other passion is for the Lord. To those ends, I have written, directed and produced
a Christian-themed movie, "Daniel's
Lot" which stars Emmy-award winner
Gary Burghoff (Radar from M*A*S*H) You

or my other plans for movies in the
future at www.lazarusfilmworks.com
My most recent endeavor in His service
is the startup of a Christian radio station.
The station, WTYG, 91.5 FM (We Thank You God) serves Marion County in the central Florida
area. Check it out online at www.wtygfm.com. Have a Blessed
day.
